Robert Sanchez received his Ph.D. in philosophy from UCR in 2012. From 2009-2014 he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of philosophy and Latin American studies at The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. During his stay at UC MEXUS, he plans to continue deepening his research on 20th century Mexican philosophy, with an emphasis on existentialism and the philosophy of lo mexicano (roughly, what it means to be Mexican). Along with Carlos Alberto Sanchez, he is working on an anthology of newly translated essential readings in 20th century Mexican philosophy, an edited collection of essays on the same topic, and a number of papers related to the issues and philosophers that define mid-century Mexican thought.
